Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day as we call in in our house.We have savoury ones for dinner (garlic cheese and mushrooms tonight) and sweet ones for dessert (Nutella, strawberries and whipped cream). When I was small, my mum would be in the kitchen pretty much all night cooking them; my dad used to just let her keep them coming. We always had them with lemon juice and sugar and she would make them really thin - lovely, mine are always a bit too thick for my taste. I do like the American-style buttermilk pancakes though - Jamie Oliver has a great recipe for apple ones, which I can't find anywhere, so here's another one.
