dome cinema

This is the historic Dome Cinema in Worthing. Not quite the same experience as your local googolplex and all the better for it.

mr blue sky

Yep, it's still raining. But there's something very special about sitting in the warm, on the sofa, on a day like this. Might go and make some cakes in a minute.

fog

I've been waiting to take this photo for a while. And today was perfectly foggy.

fruit

There's always a lovely selection of fruit outside a Thai food shop down the road from work. Today there were some fresh looking mangoes, some of those baby bananas that we used to get in Cambodia and some fruit I didn't recognise, but looked a bit like a cucumber - priced up at £6.39. They weren't even that expensive in New Zealand.

postman's bike

Enjoy them while you can, according to some reports they're going to be phased out. The good news is that they'll be sending the unwanted ones to Africa.

compact

This is my cute compact mirror that I got in Hong Kong. She opens and closes her eyes and she's a little weird because her head is way bigger than her body.

shells

Liam made this plaster cast of some beach objects at school ages ago. I think it's brilliant and it has pride of place on our shelf. I'd like him to teach me how he did it.

tiles

I've always loved these tiles that are found on period properties - it's such a shame when they've been removed.

surf

I got right down onto the beach today, I really do miss living further away from it.

light

When I take a night shot it's usually because my day has been so busy there's been no time to get outside in daylight. Today was one of those days.

lido

Lido, Italian for 'beach', is a public outdoor swimming pool, often by the sea but there were lots of inland ones too. The Worthing Lido was built within the Grade II listed Victorian birdcage bandstand which had been built in 1897. In 1957 the pool opened but has been boarded over since 1989; the pool space is used for storage. Although after it's closure to the public it was used to house the dolphins from the then Brighton Aquarium (now Sealife Centre) whilst their pool was being renovated in 1988.

My Chemical Romance

I've had to cheat a bit today, but it's my game so I'm bending the rules slightly. My aim is to take a pic a day and post it here on the day. But the photo I wanted to post was taken yesterday at 11pm. So I thought if I took a photo of the photo on screen, I can just about justify it, that's the one above. Below is the pic of the MCR gig that I would have posted if we'd got home before midnight.

tree

This is the tree outside our bedroom window that I wake up to every morning. It's branches are bare now but later in the year it'll have masses of red berries. Despite the lack of berries now, there are still lots of birds around, including robins who sing THROUGH the night. And more magpies than I've ever seen in one place.

pollock

I don't know if the posters had fallen off or been removed from the billboard, but what's left really reminds me of a Jackson Pollock.

sweet as

I don't very often post a portrait, but today's our 13th wedding anniversary so it's a special day.

yellow lines

Double yellow lines, originated by a farmer in Yorkshire. These ones in Worthing are a bit faded. I really like the different surfaces and textures in this photo.

beach

It was such a beautiful day today in Worthing. I'm very lucky that the beach is only a minute's walk from work. Roll on summer :)

heading home

Because I'm heading home
Go somewhere you've never gone
Sing something you've never sung
Think about something you've never thought.

mushrooms

Mushroom, funghi, เห็ด, champignon,
I used to work with someone who had previously worked on a mushroom farm and, as a result of a very bad experience there, couldn't even look at a mushroom. I love them; except those oyster mushrooms that taste just like meat.

sarah and me

This is me (left) and my good friend Sarah. And I mean 'good friend' - the kind that you don't see every day but you know are always there for you and the conversation just flows like it never stopped.

goldstone

Cliff was going a training run at Hove Park with his friend Steve, so I jumped at the chance to go too (not to run you understand; but to take photos, sit-in the cafe, read my book and drink hot chocolate!) This is the Goldstone. On the other side of the road is the former site of the Goldstone Ground where Brighton & Hove Albion football club (the Seagulls) played until the site was sold in 1997 and Toys R Us moved in. The club will finally have a permanent home stadium at Falmer next season.

heart

I knitted this pistachio heart for Frances who is leaving work this week to prepare for the arrival of her baby. I had a lovely Thai lunch today with her and the rest of my old team to celebrate. It was great to see everyone.

abandoned

I have to wonder why on earth these trainers have been left in this flowerbed by the station. I've heard of shoe trees but this pair are completely on their own and nowhere near a tree. Perhaps they're waiting for one to grow? It'll be a long wait.
