fireplace

This is part of the tiled surround from one of our beautiful fireplaces; just got to get the chimneys sorted for winter.

growth

Liam has this strange stretchy green thing and it broke this evening, now he can fit his whole hand inside so it looks like some odd growth. Nice.

bike lane

Had a lovely bike ride along the seafront this evening. Luckily you can cycle all along the promenade now in Worthing. They used to have a cycle lane and then took it away and then changed it so you can cycle anywhere (apart from this bit where there's still a lane). Glad they finally made up their minds.

wellies

The lasting image will be the amount of mud and the things that got us through were the wellies.

litter

On Friday I thought the litter situation wasnt too bad but by Saturday it was everywhere. For a generation that professes to care for the environment we have a funny way of showing it. There were bins people!

'89

1989 was the year of my first Reading festival, yes I'm aware that was 22 years ago (I was clearly very young). The memories are very vivid, great lineup, not as many people and nowhere near as much mud although it did rain.

bell

Got out on my bike tonight for the first time in ages, which might account for the rusted bell.

birthday boy

Happy 13th birthday to our Liam. We went up to London for the day and visited the Dr Who Experience.

birthday cake

Liam insisted I make his cake this year but was very clear on what he wanted. So after a very late finish at work I started on the baking at 10pm. I was just about to put the tins in the oven and realised I hadn't used any butter. Out the tins it came to have the butter stirred in. Well they came out better than I expected, maybe that's a new method to be followed.

start

Another Park Run and I managed to get 4 seconds outside my personal best. Aargh. There's always next time.

west end

Well, who knew that Worthing has a West End. We now live just on the edge of it in Heene district. Back in the early 19th century settlement was in Heene village and in an area known as Little Heene. The area apparently had a reputation for wildness and lawlessness and the Commissioners in the new town of Worthing to the east erected a wall at the Heene-Worthing boundary to keep the 'lawless' of Heene out of the civilised east. We'll try to keep up the tradition of wildness.

kitchen trolley

This is the trolley that my friend from work Jo gave us that fits perfectly under our worktop and means I actually have somewhere to cook. Thanks Jo! Note the salt ring on the floor to prevent the slugs visiting :(

ikea

Two trolleys worth and not sure how we got it all in the car. And we still have to go back for the things they didn't have.

Treacle

This is Treacle, one of two cats that used to live here and are lodging next door until their owner returns for them next month. When we were moving in we found them curled up on top of boxes a few times. Pity they can't stay.

stained glass

These are the windows in our new bedroom. They give us a lovely morning light, well, they will when I take down those awful curtains (navy curtains with stars on them anyone?)

boards

Saw these colourful skateboards neatly positioned outside McDonalds. I am assuming that they were placed there very carefully by a pair of teenagers (there's a skate/BMX park opposite, so it's not a huge assumption) - I bet their bedrooms aren't as neat.

birthday list

A frantic day moving and unpacking boxes, but still time to take a pic for my birthday wish list, this is a cute, multi-purpose washbag and I have just the perfect use for it.

riverbed

A snap taken on the way back home across the Adur to load up the moving van for the umpteenth time, it turned out much better than I expected.

number 164

This is our new place, not looking forward to the moving in bit but am looking forward to being settled.

comic book store

Liam tends to show us the other side of every city we visit by dragging us around to the comic book stores. This is Norma's.

Casa Batllo

I love the windows at Casa Batllo; inside the the doors, handles and ceilings are curved. Beautiful.
